An interview with Lance Twiggs, the roommate and alleged \u201ctransgender\u201d-identifying lover of accused Charlie Kirk assassin Tyler Robinson, took center stage on day three of the preliminary hearings prior to Robinson\u2019s capital murder trial.<\/p>\n

Another crucial piece of evidence, in direct contrast to some theories online questioning Robinson\u2019s involvement, is that Robinson turned himself in to Washington County law enforcement at around 9:00 p.m. on Sept. 11, the day after he allegedly shot Kirk. He was there with his parents, and all were interviewed by the authorities.<\/p>\n

As with hearing days one and two, more people were introduced Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Personnel<\/strong><\/h2>\n

State of Utah<\/strong><\/h4>\n

, Deputy County Attorney. According to her bio, she has \u201cpracticed law since 2013 and currently serves as a criminal prosecutor with the Utah County Attorney\u2019s Office. For nearly eight years, she has prosecuted a wide range of misdemeanor and felony cases \u2014 including theft, assault, attempted murder, and homicide \u2014 while developing a particular specialization in sexual offense cases. She is a member of the Office\u2019s Special Victims Unit, where she focuses on crimes involving vulnerable victims.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kirk Family<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Jeffrey Neiman is the Kirk family\u2019s attorney. Until Wednesday, he had yet to speak up in the hearings, but when redactions were being made to the video of the Twiggs interview, he said the family would like the interview in its entirety to be played \u201cfor the world to see.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTo not be transparent here, to not be open, to not let the world see what happened will create doubt and distrust in the judicial system, and that\u2019s not what anybody wants,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s not what any of us believe should happen here. And we\u2019d ask the court to consider the position of the family in making its ultimate decision.\u201d<\/p>\n

Media<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Michael Judd is an attorney representing the interests of the news media. The media is not a party to the case, but has an interest in certain aspects. While Judge Tony Graf has allowed quite a bit of transparency with regard to the media, Judd has argued that cameras should be able to capture a greater portion of the exhibits than has been allowed in some cases.<\/p>\n

Witnesses<\/strong><\/h4>\n

State witness 4: Brian Davis, an agent with the Utah State Bureau of Investigation with 18 years at the agency. Davis has a total of 27 years in law enforcement with experience in violent crime, homicides, sex crimes, drug crimes, firearm crimes, white collar crime, and fraud. He said he has worked more than 60 homicide cases. Davis was assigned to be a case agent on the Kirk assassination investigation along with Agent David Hull.<\/p>\n

Davis was called into the Washington County Sheriff\u2019s Department after being notified that Robinson wanted to turn himself in. Robinson turned himself in, accompanied by his parents and a family friend, around 9:00 p.m. Davis arrived at the department around 11:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Robinson\u2019s parents were interviewed separately, but simultaneously. Robinson himself was detained officially on Sept. 12 at around 4:00 a.m.<\/p>\n

Judge Tony Graf allowed a short video of Robinson being held to be played for media cameras in court.<\/p>\n

While that video was not much of an issue, a separate video of an interview with Twiggs took up nearly the rest of the hearing.<\/p>\n

Twiggs was interviewed by Ryan McBride, one of the Utah County attorneys prosecuting the case against Robinson, at least once. There are a total of two Twiggs interviews, one that took place on Sept. 12, 2025, and another that took place on April 20, 2026.<\/p>\n

In both interviews, Twiggs was given \u201cuse immunity,\u201d meaning he cannot be prosecuted based on the information provided in the interview \u2014 but can be prosecuted based on information not covered in the interview.<\/p>\n

Robinson attorney Richard Novak objected to the video interview being played publicly, and the state prosecutors asked for only the audio to be played.<\/p>\n

After a considerable amount of deliberation, Graf decided that significant portions of the video should be redacted for public view, but that he would consider the full video in his probable cause determination as to whether this case should go to trial.<\/p>\n

The redactions made by Graf concern discussion of the contents of text messages, Discord chats, and a \u201cnote,\u201d all of which prosecutors say they will move to enter into the record as well. They are not yet deemed admissible.<\/p>\n

Day four of the hearing on Thursday is set to open with the playing of the redacted video, with audio only captured by news media. The hearing is also likely to go into much more detail about Twiggs.<\/p>\n
